Here the Project Manager will perform quantitative and qualitative tests to
determine the physical and chemical properties of each unknown: compound.
"Fingerprint" tests determine whether a compound is acidic, basic, water reactive, a cyanide, a
sulfide, an oxidizing agent, and /or a combination of hazards.
Once these properties are determined, chemicals with similar hazards will be packaged together
by DOT classification in 5- gallon containers for incineration. Any chemicals that are not
compatible will be placed in their own containers for disposal. All "unknown" materials will be
packaged and treated as a "Reactive Labpaek ".
Bulking Procedures
Individual containers to be poured will be transferred to poly- covered tables adjacent to the pour
operations.
