Affordable Housing Advisory Board
2501 Homestead Road Room D
Chapel Hill, NC 27514
Minutes of the March 27, 2018 Meeting
Members Present: Noah Oswald, Jenn Sykes, Mae McLendon, Tammy Jacobs, Vice Chair;
Douglas Boemker, and Allison Mahaley
Unexcused Absence: Joshua Brown, Adrian Moreno, and Kolby Herndon
Staff Present: Sherrill Hampton, Director
Welcome /Introduction
The Vice Chair Tammy Jacobs called the meeting to order at 6:12 p.m. The Chair, Mr. Keith
Cook was out of town.
Sherrill Hampton stated that the reason for the meeting was to review, score and provide
feedback on the four (4) applications the County received under the Outside Agency Funding
RFP. Ms. Jacobs stated that no other business would be presented at this meeting.
Ms. Hampton provided everyone the additional information that had been received as it relates
to the four (4) applicants and their applications: Centre for Homeownership & Economic
Development, Community Home Trust, EmPOWERment, Inc., and Habitat Humanity of Orange
County. The additional information came as a result of questions during the meeting with the
applicants and County Manager.
Each application was reviewed and the AHAB members present had discussion about the
proposed projects. The Board felt that it was important that the County review the application
format and questions to enhance them for next year. The Board felt that several of the
questions could be more detailed or clear in the type of information requested. This would aid
reviewers, as well as applicants. It was noted that this recommendation was provided in past
years but no changes had been made to the questions. It was good to see a separate
application for new applicants.
The final scoring sheets are attached and are included as a part of these minutes.
