Planning and projections for 2018 contd... <br />Potential Projects: Technology Improvements <br />Working with staff at the Durham - Chapel Hill - Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization (DCHC MPO) <br />OCPT is looking to add automation to its operation. <br />Automated Passenger Counters (APC) are common place in transit operations. These devices count <br />passengers with statistical accuracy, acceptable for Federal compliance standards. This will assist <br />OCPT to meet statistical confidence and thereby corroborate grant funding requests. <br />Dispatch Scheduling Software is integral to operations and data integrity. Our current software <br />package has been due significant upgrades since 2016, when Medicaid and other program changes <br />occurred. OCPT will be looking to either upgrade (with current vendor) or seek another platform that is <br />compatible with other technology options such as Automated Passenger Counters (APC) and vehicle <br />location systems (AVL). Staff is current researching vendors and will seek the technical assistance of the <br />IT Department to ensure County standards are held. <br />Orange County Public Transportation has these initiatives as projects to be funded with NC Article 43 <br />Sales Tax funds and potentially 5307 urbanized area grant funds. <br />ORANGE COUNTY <br />NORTH CAROLINA 29 <br />
