Parker, Redding, <br />Saiers, Shambley <br /> <br />Members Absent: McPherson, Thomas-Ambat, Ranells, A. Parker <br /> <br />Guests: Abigale Bethune, visiting as a graduate student in environmental policy; Bob Marotto, Director <br />of Orange County Animal Services; Maureane Hoffman, member of Animal Services Advisory Board. <br /> <br />Staff: Gail Hughes, Resource Conservation Coordinator-DEAPR-Orange Soil and Water; Peter <br />Sandbeck, Cultural Resources Coordinator; Mike Ortosky, Ag Economic Development Coordinator <br /> <br />1. Call to order: Vice Chair Redding called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />2. Chair Comments/Introductions: Ms. Bethune gave a brief outline of her graduate studies. <br /> <br />3. Considerations of Additions to Agenda: Hughes asked to add a discussion about an Orange <br />County Quilt Trail project. <br /> <br />4. Meeting Summary/Minutes: May 17th, 2017 (Attachment 1): Dawson moved to accept the <br />minutes/summary; seconded by Compton; motion carried. <br /> <br />5. Items for Decision: <br />a) New VAD/EVAD Applications (Attachment 2): Hughes presented the current applications <br />listed below. All of these farms meet the requirements/criteria for VAD/EVAD enrollment. <br />She handed out copies of the new VAD/EVAD map showing current and proposed farms. <br /> Geoffrey and Jane Gledhill: 29.61 acres for EVAD, Cedar Grove Ag District. The farm is <br />in managed forestry and also is protected by a permanent conservation easement . <br />Finley moved to approve, seconded by Shambley; motion carried. <br /> <br /> Andy and Debra Gates: 111.01 acres for VAD, Caldwell Ag District. The farm is in grains, <br />soybeans, pasture, hayland and beef cattle. Vanhook moved to approve the farm for <br />VAD, seconded by Compton; motion carried. <br /> <br /> Robert Kirk and Michael Kirk: 84.09 acres for VAD, Cane Creek-Buckhorn Ag District. <br />The farm is in beef cattle, hogs, chickens, hayland, vegetables and managed woodland. <br />Saiers moved to approve the farm for VAD, seconded by R. Parker; motion carried. <br />
