<br />SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is <br />applicable to these items: <br />• GOAL: ENSURE ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY <br />The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs, and funding <br />necessary for residents to provide shelter, food, clothing, and medical care for <br />themselves and their dependents. <br /> <br /> <br />Emergency Telephone System (E911 Fund) <br /> <br />14. Through discussion and analysis efforts with County staff and the staff at the NC 911 <br />Board, an adjustment is needed to reconcile a discrepancy between the County’s stated <br />amounts in the E911 fund balance and the stated amounts from the NC 911 Board. This <br />budget amendment provides for a fund balance appropriation of $44,449 from the <br />General Fund in order to comply with NC E911 Board’s stated fund balance amount. <br />(See Attachment 1, column 14) <br />SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: There are no Orange County Social Justice Goals <br />associated with this item. <br /> <br /> <br />South Orange Fire Service District <br /> <br />15. The Town of Carrboro Fire Department provides fire protection for the South Orange Fire <br />Service District through a contract between the County and the Town. The Board of <br />Aldermen for the Town of Carrboro has requested the use of $48,000 from the South <br />Orange Fire District’s available fund balance to purchase a replacement 4x4 command <br />vehicle. (See Attachment 3). With this appropriation, approximately $124,000 remains <br />available in the district’s fund balance. (See Attachment 1, column 15) <br /> <br />SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: There are no Orange County Social Justice Goals <br />associated with this item. <br /> <br /> <br />Orange County Schools Capital Projects <br /> <br />16. The Orange County Schools Board of Education has requested the repurposing of <br />available funds of $1,463,407 through the close out of existing projects to be used to <br />cover increased construction costs associated with geothermal project at Orange High <br />School. (See Attachment 4).
