<br />ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br /> Meeting Date: June 19, 2018 <br /> Action Agenda <br /> Item No. 8-d <br /> <br />SUBJECT: BOCC Rules of Procedure Revision Regarding Public Charge for Regular <br />Meeting Agendas <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT: BOCC <br /> <br /> <br />ATTACHMENT(S): <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br /> <br />Donna Baker, Clerk to the Orange <br />County Board of Commissioners, 919- <br />245-2130 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />PURPOSE: To consider approval of an amendment to the BOCC Rules of Procedure to revise <br />the Public Charge portion of the Board of Commissioners’ Regular Meeting Agendas. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: The Board of Commissioners adopted its “Rules of Procedure for the Board <br />of County Commissioners” in May 2002. Multiple amendments have been made since that time. <br />At the May 1, 2018 BOCC Regular Meeting, Chair Mark Dorosin and the Board discussed <br />changing the Public Charge as printed on the Agenda, The suggested modification follows: <br /> <br />Amended Strike-through/Underline Version <br /> <br />PUBLIC CHARGE <br />The Board of Commissioners pledges to the residents of Orange County its respect to <br />members of the public. The Board asks members of the public its residents to conduct <br />themselves in a respectful, courteous manner, both with the Board and with fellow <br />members of the public residents. At any time should any member of the Board or any <br />member of the public resident fail to observe this public charge, the Chair will take steps to <br />restore order and decorum. ask the offending person to leave the meeting until that <br />individual regains personal control. Should it become impossible to restore order and <br />continue the meeting,decorum fail to be restored, the Chair will recess the meeting until <br />such time that a genuine commitment to this public charge is observed. <br /> <br />The BOCC asks that aAll electronic devices such as cell phones, pagers, and computers <br />should please be turned off or set to silent/vibrate. <br /> <br />Please be kind to everyone. <br /> <br />1
