<br />ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br /> Meeting Date: June 19, 2019 <br /> Action Agenda <br /> Item No. 4-b <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Proclamation Recognizing the Carrboro High School Men’s Tennis Team for <br />Winning the 2018 State Championship <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT: Community Relations <br /> <br /> <br />ATTACHMENT(S): <br />Proclamation <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Todd McGee, Community Relations <br />Director, 245-2302 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />PURPOSE: To consider a proclamation recognizing the Carrboro High School Men’s Tennis <br />Team for winning the 2018 State Championship. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: The Carrboro High School Men’s Tennis Team won the State 2A <br />championship on May 19, 2018 with a 5-2 victory over Brevard High School, and garnering its <br />third state championship in the past five years. The Jaguars were also state champions in 2014 <br />and 2015. The Carrboro doubles team of Zach Anderson and Andre Javen also won the 2A <br />State championship in the individual competition. The team is coached by Jon Noyes. <br /> <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with this item. <br /> <br />SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: There is no Orange County Social Justice Goal impact associated <br />with this item. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the attached <br />proclamation recognizing the Carrboro High School Men’s Tennis Team for winning the 2018 <br />State Championship, and authorize the Chair to sign the proclamation on behalf of the Board. <br />1
