Pets of qualifying residents will be spayed or neutered without cost to the owner. A grant <br />from the Petrie Foundation allows the income range of residents who can utilize these services to be <br />expanded for this fall. Residents should call for eligibility. <br /> <br />(B) Pets of the Homeless Task Force: No updates other than the plan to revisit work groups. <br /> <br />(C) Surrendered Suffering Animals: No updates other than the plan to revisit work groups. <br /> <br /> <br />New Business: <br />(A) New Staff: Isabel Bukovnik was introduced as the new Animal Care Supervisor. Dean Burton and Derek <br />Woodlief were introduced as the newest Animal Control Officers. One ACO and one office vacancies <br />remain. A position for the new customer service staff will be posted soon. <br /> <br />(B) Animal Services Updates: Bob Marotto reviewed facility and equipment updates, including the installation <br />of the generator by the end of the year. The site has been prepared. There is a plan to replace the <br />commercial dryer. Automatic vehicle locators will be installed to assist with dispatching ACO response. <br />The sewer line repair is pending. Heartworm Treatment Policy was disseminated. The Board of Health <br />interviewed candidates for the Orange County Health Director. <br /> <br />In September, the adjusted live release rate for September was 93%. The absolute live release was 84%. <br />Dispositions were 249. Total admitted was 319. Through the end of the 3rd quarter, live release rate was <br />about the same for 2016. He explained how forecasts for 2017 are based on trends from 2015 and 2016 <br />and comparable changes in per capita animals as the Orange County population increase. The dog intake <br />for the 3rd quarter was 1,168; cats, 945; and others, 112. The first pig auction was successful. Andi Morgan <br />reported that the foster program is going very well. There is not much to report on the addition of the 13th <br />ASAB member (representing animal care industry). Seventh positive rabies for 2017 was reported.
