2 <br /> <br />(A) New Staff: Cooper Hatch was introduced as the new Asst Program Coordinator. <br /> <br />(B) Program Updates: Sarah Fallin reported on the yearly activities: hosted 577 volunteers for 11, 032 <br />volunteer hours; 1st Clear the Shelter in July 2016 with 70 adoptions; annual dog swim with 128 dogs; 6 dog <br />adoptions with early voting at the Seymour Center; Holiday events included Home for the Holidays, <br />parades, pictures with Santa, and canned pet-food drive for Meals on Wheels; dog exhibitions were offered <br />in many locations like farmers markets, farm supplies, and the Bank Of NC; Carrboro Open Street; Carrboro <br />Kids Dog Show; Orange County Cooperative Extension Earth Evening; Earth Days with Orange County <br />Schools 7th graders; Orange Staff Health Fair; Orange County Employee Appreciation; Hillsborough <br />Elementary School donation collection in March; WCHL broadcasts at least once monthly; various summer <br />camps; vaccination fundraiser with Meadowmont Veterinary Clinic; Chipotle fundraiser; grant writing; and <br />worked with two summer interns. <br /> <br />(C) Animal Services Updates: Bob Marotto reviewed the shelter stats for August; record number of adoptions <br />(251); Clear the Shelters event had 63 adoptions in one day; live release was 93%; Petrie Foundation Grant <br />update for some new public outreach that highlight that more people will be eligible for a no-cost spay or <br />neuter; there are considerations for cost controls and new partnerships with SNAPNC because Animal Kind <br />may not be able to continue as a partner to help provide veterinary services; considering more spay and <br />neuter event days and recruitment to ensure that the surgical schedule works the best for the community <br />and for the partnership; disaster preparations; upcoming events with rabies and microchip clinics and 2-for- <br />1 Cat Adoption Special; Pat Sanford Animal Welfare Gant nomination process to begin for 2017. <br /> <br />Information Items (made available): <br />(A) Monthly Sheltering Statistical Reports, Aug 2017 <br />(B) Monthly Field Service Statistical Report, Aug 2017 <br /> <br />Adjournment and next meeting: <br />Beth Grooms made a motion to adjourn at 8:11; Edmund Tiryakian seconded.
