More crossover in outreach and information <br />ii. Likelihood of adding more Spay Neuter Day Events <br />1. Recent turnout indicates we have a successful “formula” <br />2. May increase them from 4 to 6 or 4 to 8 <br />iii. Longer term possibilities <br />1. Addition of a third mobile unit to SNAP-NC <br />2. Potential need by OCAS of more sterilization capacity. <br /> <br />4. Hurricane Season Preparations <br />a. Created a small animal sheltering team of five (5) but so far it has not been deployed <br />b. The team and Companion Animal Mobile Equipment Trailer (CAMET) were both listed as <br />available assets through the Emergency Management Assistant Compact (EMAC) <br />c. A pet colocation team for the opening of a mass shelter was also put on standby until <br />Irma changed her course <br />d. Resources including capacity to shelter relocated animals were included in an inventory <br />of North Carolina resources prepared by the North Carolina Animal Federation for the <br />NC Department of Agriculture’s Small Animal Recovery Team as well as national animal <br />organizations <br />e. With Maria still a threat, any or all of the above could be reset at any time. <br />f. “Plan for the worst; hope for the best.” <br /> <br />5. Upcoming Events <br />a. Low-cost rabies vaccination and microchip clinics: <br />Thursday, 9/28, Farmer’s Market on Margaret Lane in Hillsborough, 5pm – 7pm <br />Saturday, 9/30, at Animal Services, 9am – 12pm <br />b. “2 for 1 Cat Adoption Special” until October 31, adopt any two (2) cats and get the 2nd <br />cat for free. <br /> <br />Prepared by B.
