Michael Stewart made a motion for the ASAB to continue <br />with plan to engage the APB and other community partners for the barn cat project; Judy Miller seconded. <br />Motion carried without dissent. <br /> <br />New Business: <br />(A) Health & Animal Services Department Collaboration in Review: Irene Phipps summarized a recent report to <br />the Orange County Board of Health on services, jurisdiction, and collaborations; ASAB activities; the <br />Hearing Panel Pool; statistical facts; rabies control program under the authority on Health Director; <br />exposures reported to CD nurses; the 242 bite reports in 2016; updates to rabies exposure policy and <br />procedure based on the most recent Rabies Compendium; rabies clinic offerings, statistics, and certified <br />staffing; and public information/ marketing services provided by OCAS. <br />(B) Ideas for Projects and Initiatives, Possible Projects, and Grants: Bob Marotto requested prioritization of <br />initiatives and possible projects. A survey was collected from present ASAB and sent to those who were <br />absent. Staff input will also be collected. <br />(C) Staffing: Andi Morgan made a report on staffing. An Animal Care Supervisor and the Communication <br />Specialist will begin on June 5th. There were good candidates for the Veterinary Health Care Tech. Other <br />vacancies have been posted on the county HR site. <br />(D) Fostering: Andi Morgan reported that there are 79 animals currently in foster homes. Some foster kittens <br />should be old enough and weigh enough to return from fostering for sterilization in time to be on display <br />for the open house. <br /> <br />Information Items (made available): <br />(A) Monthly Sheltering Statistical Reports, April 2017 <br />(B) Monthly Field Service Statistical Report, April 2017 <br /> <br />Adjournment and next meeting: <br />Beth Grooms made a motion to adjourn at 8:10; Michael Stewart seconded.
