A facility generator will be installed by the end of the year <br />1. It is expected to run the entire facility in the event of a power outage <br />2. Siting options are under consideration <br />ii. The public restroom conversion has been completed <br />iii. A section of sewer line needs to be replaced in the coming months <br />1. It is about 30 feet and it was discovered during the restroom project <br />2. It will require removal of concrete floor and 4 feet of excavation in a <br />rear corridor <br />3. Operational disruptions will be minimized and the project is expected to <br />take 2 to 4 weeks. <br />b. Panleukopenia <br />i. In the month of August we have had two confirmed cases <br />ii. Our veterinary health care team has developed a plan to contain and uproot the <br />virus including <br />1. Isolation of all animals that may have been exposed <br />2. Use of smocks and booties in these high risk areas <br />3. Thorough disinfection of potentially affected areas <br />4. Exhaustive feline vaccination regimen <br />iii. Public disclosure is taking the form of notices in select areas of the Animal <br />Services Center and a handout in our adoption package for cats. <br /> <br />5. Upcoming Events <br />a. Clear the Shelters, 10 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturday, August 19 <br />b. Low-cost rabies vaccination and microchip clinic, 3-5 pm, Thursday, August 17, <br />Orange County Animal Services <br />c. Back to School Adoption Special , August 1-31 (Dogs and puppies, $65 and $70; cats and <br />kittens, $55 and 60) <br />d.
