Citing other appeals boards with quasi-
judicial proceedings during open meetings, the County Manager encouraged the ASAB to seek the guidance of
the Orange County Board of Adjustments on mode of practice. The outcome of the discussion included: (1)
empowering the ASAB member of the Committee to lead deliberations; (2) enhancing the training that the
non-Board members receive; and (3) developing a set of deliberation guidelines. Edmund Tikyakian will work
on guidelines.
Old Business:
(A) Animal Welfare Grants Honoring Pat Sanford Update
The Pat Sanford Animal Welfare Grant will be presented to the Orange County BOCC at their September
6thmeeting. Judy Miller wants to review deadlines. Once the BOCC is properly informed, the grant’s
implementation can begin.
