1 <br /> <br />Orange County Animal Services <br />1601 Eubanks Road, Chapel Hill, NC 27516 <br />919-942-PETS (7387) <br /> <br />ANIMAL SERVICES ADVISORY BOARD (ASAB) <br /> <br />6:30 to 8:30 p.m. <br />Wednesday, April 16, 2014 <br /> <br />Meeting Summary <br /> <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: DeWana Anderson, Susan Elmore, Caroline Green, Beth Grooms, Judy Miller, <br />Warren Porter (Vice-Chair), Aviva Scully, Arthur Sprinczeles, Michael Stewart, Michelle Walker (Chair) <br />MEMBERS ABSENT: Suzanne Roy <br />STAFF PRESENT: Bob Marotto (Animal Services Director) <br />_____________________________________________________________________________________ <br /> <br />Agenda: Motion to approve agenda passed and agenda unanimously approved <br /> <br />Summary of March 19, 2014 meeting: Reviewed and unanimously approved <br /> <br />General Public Comments on items not on the agenda: None <br /> <br />Partner Profile—AnimalKind <br />(A) Presentation by Hilary Green and Jada Jarillo <br />• Ms. Green and Ms. Jarillo described the organization’s services in implementing low-cost <br />spay/neuter programs, including the following initiatives: <br />o SpayNC Helpline, a statewide toll free information service, which helps all North <br />Carolina residents find pet spay/neuter resources in their area (1-888-NC-FIX-EM) <br />o The $20 FIX, a pet spay/neuter subsidy program currently assisting needy residents of <br />the Town of Cary, Orange, Durham, Person, and Caswell counties. <br /> <br />ASAB Affairs <br />(A) Potentially Dangerous Dog Appeal Hearing <br />• The subcommittee conducted one hearing this month and upheld the designation where a dog <br />entered the victim’s apartment and bit the victim <br />(B) Potentially Dangerous Dog Appeal Committee <br />• The Board unanimously approved appointment of the following: <br />o Committee Members: Susan Elmore, Caroline Green, and Michael Stewart <br />o Alternates: Beth Grooms, Judy Miller, Michelle Walker <br />(C) Upcoming ASAB Vacancies <br />• Susan Elmore and Michael Stewart are available and willing to serve through reappointments <br />upon expiration of their terms on June 30, 2014 <br />• Suzanne Roy’s animal advocate position will become vacant when her second and final term <br />ends on June 30, 2014 <br />(D) October meeting date
