a <br />PROCLAMATION <br />Orange County Government Week <br />April 10 - 16, 2005 <br />WHEREAS, County employees serve America; and <br />WHEREAS, County employees protect our neighborhoods; keep families <br />healthy; help troubled youths and young adults; train <br />displaced workers; provide veteran services; and perform <br />countless otherjobs with dedication and pride; and <br />WHEREAS, Counties maintain important historical records; support <br />opportunities for new businesses to prosper; regulate land <br />use, deliver services to the elderly and healthcare to the <br />disabled and needy; and <br />WHEREAS, When natural or man-made disaster strikes, County <br />emergency responders act swiftly to help keep children and <br />their families safe and informed until order can be restored; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Since colonial times counties have been a key part of <br />providing critical and valued services to the public; <br />WHEREAS, Most County services are available to all residents, whether <br />they live inside or outside of a city or town, and <br />WHEREAS, County governments listen to the voice of their residents, <br />building solutions that bring people together. <br />Now, therefore, be it resolved that the Orange County Board of <br />Commissioners, does hereby proclaim April 10 -16, 2005 as National <br />County Government in Orange County, North Carolina. <br />This, the 15~h day of March 2005. <br />Moses Carey, Chair <br />Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />
