Animal Control Ordinance <br />DRAFTv.3 - 8/15/2013 Page 36 <br /> <br />4. The animals are adequately protected from one another. <br />c. Only animals of the same species shall be transported in the same <br />enclosure. Puppies and kittens under six months of age shall not be <br />transported in the same enclosure with adult animals, other than their <br />mother. <br /> <br />d. Each enclosure used to transport animals shall be large enough for each <br />animal to stand erect, sit, turn about freely and lie down in a normal <br />position. <br /> <br />e. Animals shall not be placed in enclosures over other animals while being <br />transported unless each enclosure is so constructed to prevent animal <br />excreta from entering the other enclosures. <br /> <br />f. All enclosures used to transport animals shall be disinfected after each use <br />and as needed. <br /> <br />(4) Care in transit. <br /> <br />a. The attendant or driver shall be responsible for inspecting the animals <br />frequently enough to ensure the health and comfort of the animals and to <br />determine if emergency care is needed and to obtain emergency care if <br />needed. <br /> <br />b. If any animal is in a vehicle for more than three hours, it shall be provided <br />fresh, drinkable water, and food as appropriate. <br /> <br />c. Each animal in transit shall have a tag affixed to its collar of a type <br />approved by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. <br />(Ord. of 6-16-1987, § XX(A)(2), eff. 1-1-1988) <br /> <br />Sec. 4-99. - Records. <br />(a) Every person who sells, gives, exchanges or otherwise delivers any animal to a <br />collector must receive from the collector a written receipt, a copy of which is to be <br />kept by the collector, signed by both the owner or keeper and the collector, stating the <br />following: <br /> <br />(1) The number of animals received by the collector. <br /> <br />(2) The sex, breed and a general description of each animal received and the U.S. <br />Department of Agriculture number assigned to each animal. <br /> <br />(3) The name, address and telephone number of the location to which the animal will <br />be taken for the following five days. <br />
