2015 HIGHLIGHTS <br />Initiatives & Successes <br />Increased the number of Spay /Neuter Day from 3 to 4 special <br />events. <br />Waive the pet licensing fee for Orange County DSS clients who <br />have their pets sterilized. <br />Reduced the number of animals admitted to the Orange County <br />Animal Services Center for the last two consecutive years, to <br />under 3,000. <br />Opportunities & Challenges <br />Increasing the number of sterilized dogs and cats to 500 -plus <br />t <br />• Growing the number of residents who participate on the basis of income rather than <br />public assistance <br />• Changes in the NC Spay Neuter Reimbursement Program eligibility criteria; excluding <br />public assistance and reducing the total household income. <br />
