In order for the County to purchase the dual use equipment listed as part of the bid <br />specifications, it must be obtained as part of a trailer package instead of procuring the items <br />individually, according to grant guidelines. Orange County Emergency Management plans to <br />use the trailer, if purchased, during annual public safety events such as Hog Day and <br />Halloween. This trailer and its contents also have countywide non-emergency use, such as <br />during public education events, child car safety seat checks, and during annual flu clinics, <br />Orange County's bid requirements were advertised and five vendors were solicited for the bid. <br />Bids were submitted by two vendors. A copy of the tabulation is attached, Kraftsman, Inc. of <br />Ramseur, North Carolina submitted the lowest responsible bid at a delivered cast of $29,945, <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: The purchase price of the trailer is $29,945, This amount is fully <br />reimbursable by the State-administered Federal grant, and the County will file for <br />reimbursement from the State pursuant to the terms of the grant. There may be some <br />incidental use of existing staff time; however, no additional County casts are expected to <br />acquire the trailer. <br />RECOMMENDATIAN(S): The Manager recommends that the Board award bid number 1422 <br />to Kraftsman, Inc. of Ramseur, North Carolina for the Mass Medication Distribution Site/Site <br />Area Command Past trailer and authorize the Purchasing Director to execute the necessary <br />paperwork. <br />
