Given by Program Coordinator, Animal Care Technicians, and senior dog <br />volunteer. <br />8/13/05 – 17 people attended <br /> <br />Volunteers this month: 45 <br /> <br />Volunteer hours total: 265 <br /> <br />Outreach Program: Always presented by volunteers, this is a program where we set up a table at a public <br />location, often with select shelter animals, and provide information on adoptions and animal care. <br />Phydeaux: August 6 <br />Petsmart- August 13 <br />Walmart – August 20 <br />Southern States – August 27 <br /> <br />August 17 – Tour of Shelter for YMCA Teen Summer Camp: The camp did a Kong Drive for us and <br />brought the Kongs (dog chew toys) to shelter, then went on a tour of the shelter with a Q&A session. <br /> <br />August 24 – A volunteer (who asked to remain anonymous) and Program Coordinator threw Staff an <br />Appreciation Breakfast on behalf of all the animals that have been through the shelter. <br /> <br />August 25 - After Hours Weaver Street Carrboro: OCAS volunteers served grilled chicken and portabella <br />mushrooms, pasta salad and watermelon for a fund raiser. All profits went to shelter, totaling $501.00 <br /> <br />August 27 – Third Annual Dog Swim at Triangle SportsPlex: The SportsPlex opened their pool to dog <br />owners and their pets for an open swim, at a cost of $5.00 each. 50% of proceeds went to shelter, totaling <br />$150.00 <br /> <br />August 29 – Met with Erin from CHCCS Community Based Vocational Training to set up program for <br />CHHS kids <br /> <br /> <br />Animal Control Highlights <br /> <br />Several demographic areas showed a sharp increase in animal intakes this month, most noticeably Chapel <br />Hill and Night Deposit, though activity overall was increased.
