Reviewed possible implementation activities related to the Safe Routes to School 4 <br />(SRTS) Plan. 5 <br />2. Recommended the Orange Grove Road Bridge Fencing project. 6 <br /> 7 <br />Alex Castro said the OUTBoard was involved with the video club at Cedar Ridge High 8 <br />School, where the students produced a PSA concerning bicycle safety. 9 <br />Alex Castro said at three (3) of their meetings, the Transit Advisory Services/OPT 10 <br />Group, including supplemental staff from other County departments (Aging; DSS; Housing, 11 <br />Human Rights and Community Development; Health; Child Support Enforcement; and the 12 <br />Library) jointly addressed transit services agenda items with the OUTBoard. He said the 13 <br />OUTBoard serves as the advocates for the community for the rural areas, which are 14 <br />underserved. He said these areas need access to transit services. 15 <br />Alex Castro said Abigaile Pittman, who is the OUTBoard support staff person, is putting 16 <br />together orientation materials for the OUTBoard, since transit and transportation are 17 <br />complicated areas. He said it is difficult to get up to speed on these topics so these materials 18 <br />will be useful for OUTBoard members, as well as new Commissioners. 19 <br />Commissioner Rich asked if the PSA videos are available. 20 <br />Abigaile Pittman, Transportation/Land Use Planner II, said there are 4 videos, which will 21 <br />be presented at the June 5th meeting. 22 <br /> 23 <br />• Human Relations Commission (HRC) Deborah Stroman, Chair 24 <br /> 25 <br />Deborah Stroman said HRC membership is increasing, and more than half of its 26 <br />members will be new to the commission: 27 <br />Deborah Stroman reviewed the following information: 28 <br />• Housing 29 <br />• Education 30 <br />• Civility 31 <br />• Criminal justice 32 <br /> 33 <br />The charges of the HRC are: 34 <br />a. Studying and making recommendations concerning problems in the field of human 35 <br />relationships; 36 <br />b. Anticipating and discovering practices and customs most likely to create animosity and 37 <br />unrest, and seeking solutions to problems as they arise; 38 <br />c. Making recommendations designed to promote goodwill and harmony among groups in 39 <br />the County irrespective of their race, color, creed, religion, ancestry, national origin, sex, 40 <br />affectional preference, disability, age, marital status or status with regard to public 41 <br />assistance; 42 <br />d. Monitoring and investigating complaints of discrimination; 43 <br />e. Addressing and attempting to remedy the violence, tensions, polarization, and other 44 <br />harm created through the practices of discrimination, bias, hatred, and civil inequality; 45 <br />and 46 <br />f.
