12 <br /> <br />Chair Dorosin said he is also interested in hearing more about the need for gymnasium 1 <br />space. He said he has heard of this need as well, as would like to hear more about this: the 2 <br />costs, ideal location, etc. He said there is a need for higher impact recreation as well as low 3 <br />impact. 4 <br />Commissioner Jacobs asked if the St. Paul Church has a gym, and, if so, maybe a 5 <br />partnership could be fostered. 6 <br /> 7 <br />• Planning Board Randy Marshall, Vice Chair 8 <br />Randy Marshall suggested doing reverse alphabetical order at next year’s meeting. He 9 <br />said he has enjoyed his time on the Planning Board. 10 <br /> 11 <br />• In the last year, provided input on the reorganization of the Tables of Permitted Uses at 12 <br />several ORC meetings. 13 <br />• Reviewed and made recommendations on flood regulations, public hearing process 14 <br />revisions, and an MPD-CZ application (Settler’s Point). 15 <br /> 16 <br />Randy Marshall said at the Planning Board meeting last night they talked about the 17 <br />Settler’s Point community neighborhood information sessions, and trying to have information 18 <br />available prior to discussions taking place. 19 <br />Randy Marshall said training sessions have been implemented for new Planning Board 20 <br />members. He said Perdita Holtz, Planning Department, has been using webinars from the 21 <br />School of Government on planning issues and orientation issues, which has been very helpful. 22 <br />Craig Benedict, Planning Director, said due to the interest for the Board of Adjustment to 23 <br />receive training, the Planning Board will also be invited to training sessions on the quasi-judicial 24 <br />issues. 25 <br />Randy Marshall said the Planning Board intends to continue looking at affordable and 26 <br />senior housing, including co-housing and clustering in rural areas; updating the Unified 27 <br />Development Ordinance with changes from Raleigh; and rezoning for development projects, 28 <br />transportation issues, and wireless and broadband access. 29 <br /> 30 <br />• Affordable Housing Advisory Board (AHAB) Cain Twyman and 31 <br />Sherrill Hampton 32 <br /> 33 <br /> Cain Twyman reviewed the following information: 34 <br />What are your Board/Commission’s most important accomplishments? 35 <br /> 36 <br />• Providing comments for inclusion in the annual Consolidated Plan/ Action Plan Update 37 <br />for the HOME Program and other community development needs. 38 <br />• Educating newcomers on The AHAB on Orange County’s affordable housing issues. 39 <br />• Participating in the Affordable Housing Summit held on February 23, 2018 and provided 40 <br />comments and input on affordable housing issues in Orange County. 41 <br /> 42 <br />List of Specific Tasks, Events, or Functions Performed or Sponsored Annually. 43 <br /> 44 <br />• Review and provide input on the Consolidated Plan/Annual Plan Update and 45 <br />Performance Report. 46 <br />• Monitor the Affordable Housing Bond and other local housing programs. 47 <br />• Review outside funding requests/applications from organizations providing housing 48 <br />services. 49 <br />• Educate the community on affordable housing needs, trends and resources and related 50
