FFY 2015 -2019 Five Year Consolidated Plan Orange County HOME Consortium, NC <br />Employment Services need to increase focus and resources to assist this population, including <br />people with criminal histories and youth aging out of foster care <br />According to the 2007 -2011 American Community Survey data, Orange County has an <br />unemployment rate of 5.83% which is lower than the North Carolina unemployment rate of 9.7% <br />for that same period. However, in Orange County, there are 16,750 workers and 18,050 jobs. The <br />unemployment rate is also larger in the 16 -24 age group as opposed to older age groups. This <br />suggests that as younger members of the workforce leave school and enter the workforce, they <br />are struggling to find employment <br />According to the 2007 -2011 American Community Survey data, there are job deficiencies (the <br />number of qualified worker's exceeds the number of jobs available) in certain sectors. Conversely, <br />Orange County is also experiencing an employment deficiency (the number of jobs available <br />exceeds the number of qualified workers) in certain sectors.
