5 <br />ORANGE COUNTY <br />NORTH CAROLINA <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY BOARD <br />May 17, 2018 <br />To the Orange County Board of Commissioners: <br />On behalf of Jim Kitchen, Chair of the Orange County Economic Advisory Board, I am <br />requesting the Board of Commissioners to review and consider taking the following actions with <br />several advisory board members' term renewals, an extension and new appointments. BOCC <br />approval of the advisory group's recommendations will enable Economic Development's <br />advisory board to maintain its full level of 10 total appointees, as follows: <br />(1) Reappoint three (3) current members, who have reached the end of their initial <br />term's appointment, to a new 3 -year term. These individuals have agreed to continue serving <br />if reappointed, and have had an active role in advising the Board of County Commissioners, the <br />Orange County Manager's Office and the Orange County Economic Development office with <br />the ongoing consultant SWOT Analysis of the three economic development districts (EDDs) and <br />CITAN nodes. Their continued board service is important to assisting the County with the <br />SWOT analysis recommendations. <br />• Mr. James Watts (Operations & Merchandizing Manager at Weaver Street Market), <br />who fills the advisory board's agriculture /food systems position. He is also member of <br />the Economic Development Department's sub - committee that reviews applications with <br />the Orange County Agriculture Grant program. <br />Mr. John Anderson (Senior Relationship Manager with Wells Fargo Bank), who fills <br />one of the advisory board's core business sector positions. He is also a member of the <br />Economic Development Department's sub - committee that reviews applications for the <br />Orange County Small Business Loan program. <br />Mr. Anthony Carey (General Manager at the Siena Hotel) who fills the advisory board's <br />hotel /restaurant & tourism position. He also serves as the Economic Development <br />Department's designated liaison with the Chapel Hill /Orange County Visitor's Bureau's <br />advisory board. <br />
