Approved 9/15/10 <br />2 <br /> 56 <br />Alice Gordon advised the Board they could go ahead and ask the Clerk to the Board to declare a position as vacant 57 <br />due to non attendance and request that the position be put on the list for appointment by the BOCC. 58 <br /> 59 <br />Karen Lincoln will send a request to the Clerk for OUTBoard appointments to be put on the BOCC agenda to fill 60 <br />vacancies. 61 <br /> 62 <br />Alice Gordon advised that a memo will be going out in September to all the boards and commissions clarifying the 63 <br />status of each. 64 <br /> 65 <br />The members discussed the possibility requesting the BOCC to approve changes to the rules of procedure to allow 66 <br />the regulations to base the quorum on the majority of filled positions. 67 <br /> 68 <br />Alice Gordon advised that one discussion involved the possibility of all the boards and commissions having the same 69 <br />bylaws and having some boards meet bi-monthly. 70 <br /> 71 <br />The consensus of those present was to have this item included on the next agenda. 72 <br /> 73 <br />VII. Board Comments/Updates 74 75 <br />Karen Lincoln apprised the group of a Hillsborough Town Board meeting on June 28, at which the Town Board will 76 <br />receive the train station committee’s draft Small Area Plan for the Hillsborough Train Station. She will see about 77 <br />getting a copy. 78 <br /> 79 <br />Nancy Baker advised the next step for the Safe Routes to School Action Plan is for the consultants to come up with 80 <br />recommendations. She noted the consultants plan to complete the draft recommendations over the summer. Nancy 81 <br />noted that attendance for Walkable Hillsborough/Safe Routes to School was not as good as hoped possibly due to 82 <br />the weather. Those that came did provide lots of comments and feedback. 83 <br /> 84 <br />Karen Lincoln updated the members regarding regional financial plans that Triangle Transit is developing for projects 85 <br />to be funded with the ½-cent sales tax, if passed. Each County has to approve the regional plan. Triangle Transit 86 <br />will have a public workshop on July 7th from 5:30 -8 pm at Chapel Hill Town Hall. She noted this is the time to 87 <br />provide comments regarding preferences for funding transit projects using the proposed ½ cent sales tax. The 88 <br />regional agencies hope to get everyone on board so that Counties can hold, and pass referenda on the proposed tax 89 <br />for transit projects in the fall of 2011. 90 <br /> 91 <br />Alice Gordon gave information regarding the Long Range Transportation Plan and noted that Triangle Transit hired a 92 <br />consultant to look at alternatives. They main things they are looking at are light rail transit, commuter rail, and bus 93 <br />service and where the stations are going. Alice also advised that it may be advisable for someone from the 94 <br />OUTBoard to get involved. 95 <br /> 96 <br /> 97 <br />VIII.
