We, the Orange County Board of Commissioners, do
hereby proclaim that December 6, 2017 shall be
recognized as ABOLITION DAY throughout the
County, and urge all residents to support and engage
in the ongoing struggle to ensure freedom and justice
for all of humanity…locally, nationally and globally.
• Presentation on Opioids and Legal Issues:
1. The Board received a presentation from attorneys
representing some North Carolina local governments,
and some local governments across the country
regarding litigation against opioid manufacturers and
distributors and provided direction to staff if
appropriate.
• Mountains to Sea Trail (MST) Possible Route Approval for
Orange County Segments:
1. Segment 12
Hillsborough Riverwalk
Trails on Historic Sites to East
Remainder Within Eno River State Park*
Segment is Already Identified…thus…
Not included in planning process
2. Segment 11
Occoneechee Mountain Trails
Southwest to Seven Mile Creek Preserve
Cross-country to Cane Creek and Cane Creek
Reservoir
Exits County toward Saxapahaw
Would Occur in Three Phases
3. A motion was made and passed for the Board to adopt
the “Orange County Mountains to Sea Trail Route”
and that staff report back at a later date on
information gathered on the Multi-modal Trail and on
discussions held with OWASA.
Chapel Hill
Town Council
N/A

Minutes are not available online
Carrboro Board
of Aldermen
Physical Activity
and Nutrition;
SAMH
• The Board discussed progress towards an application for
upgrading the Town’s Bicycle Friendly Community status,
including the bike plan update and possible infrastructure
improvements, and associated cost implications. Carrboro has
the Bicycle Friendly Community silver status, and is working
toward gold. To increase the grades on the Bicycle Friendly
Community report card, the Town can engage in more activities
and education, as well as the bike plan for policy, and
infrastructure updates. The bike plan was adopted in 2009 and it
is time for an update to look at priorities and new technologies.
