ATTACHMENT2 <br />Planning Board Comments regarding the 2007-2013 Transportation <br />Improvement Plan <br />The project should include bicycle and pedestrian facilities. The high level of <br />pedestrian traffic along this section has not been indicated (in the 2006 - 2012 <br />Priority List description). The improvements will especially be needed with <br />increased traffic related to the new middle school and soccer fields. <br />2006 -2012 Priority List Project -Park and Ride Lot in the Buckhorn Economic <br />Development District <br />A park and ride lot at the school location will increase traffic in that area, A park and <br />ride lot may be better situated nearer the West Ten intersection at Mt. Willing Road. <br />Exit 161 may be an alternative location for a park and ride lot. If a park and ride lot <br />is constructed in the Buckhorn Rd. Recommendation from the EDD Transportation Work Group -Align Eno <br />Mountain Road & Mayo Street. This project is also listed in the TIP as an <br />unfunded project - U-3436. SR 1148 (Eno Mountain Road) and SR 1006 (Orange <br />"Access Management and Awareness Project and Report for Orange Grove Road" <br />also recommends this project. <br />Board members recommend realignment of the Eno Mountain/Mayo Street/Orange <br />Grove Road intersection because of safety issues, noting that the intersection is very <br />hazardous. <br />6. Lawrence Road improvements <br />It was noted that improvements, na specifics given, to Lawrence Road are needed, <br />[Recommendation of the EDD Transportation Work Group -Extend Lawrence Road <br />(SR 1709) south and west to connect with NC 86 at the Old NC 86/New NC 86 <br />connector..] <br />
