Orange County Library L ong-Range Facility Planning 5, That ttre Orange County Public Library establish a branch library to serve Cheeks Township, its size dependent on the timing of the opening of the library and subsequent changes in population projections for the township. It is estimated that, given the current 20-year population projections, a newly constmcted facility of 10,000 square feet would be needed. The Library should continue to investigate co- loca6on in the new Efland-Cheeks Middle School in the short temr if public library user service needs and space requirements can be met with that arrangement. 6 That the population growth in the Cedaz Grove Township be monitored and plans be considered to expand the library facility in the Orange County Services Center as indicated.. 7. That rural community nodes be evaluated for the establishment of cybraries to provide access to more distant library resources; or, alternatively, reestablish boolanobile service with Internet access to county areas not served by an accessible Library facility. That the Chapel Hill Public Library be recognized as a significant partner in the provision of Librazy services to the County, • That the allocation of County funds to the Chapel Hill Librazy reflect the role of that Librazy in providing county services. • That a study be undertaken to determine the feasibility of joint computer operations of the Orange County Library, System with the Chapel Hill Public Library.
