1 06, <br />W F*N <br />To: Margaret Brown and Alice Gordon <br />CHATPEC Co-Chairs <br />From: Doris Murrell <br />Carrboro Recreation and Parks Commission Chairperson <br />Subject: Community Recreation Needs —Recommendations for the Chapel Hill <br />Township Park Site <br />Date: January 17, 2003 <br />The Carrboro Recreation and Parks Commission discussed this project at <br />several meetings. The Commission approved the following recommended list of <br />community recreation needs on January 6, 2003. <br />• Soccer Fields <br />• Multi purpose fields <br />• Play fields (baseball, softball, etc) <br />• Tennis Courts <br />• Basketball Courts <br />• Volleyball Court <br />• Track <br />• A large gymnasium <br />• Pool <br />• Spray park <br />• Hedge Maze <br />• Playground equipment <br />• Picnic shelters <br />• Trails <br />• Park accessibility to all citizens <br />I presented this list to the Carrboro Board of Aldermen on January 14, 2003. <br />Also during that time I provided a project update. <br />The Board accepted the report and emphasized three points. The Committee <br />should stay focused on the mission and provide active recreation. The Board <br />also wanted clarification of the potential school site's location on the map. <br />Finally, the Board requested that they be kept informed of progress. <br />
