QDeat Ann Pamela,
Can I deduct any portion of my Forum membership
fee frommy personal income taxes?
AA Preservation Pennypincher
Dear Pennypincher,
Back when I was rallying the Iadies to save General
Washington's home; we didn't have to worry about income
taxes, but to I understand April 15th signifies more than
the arrival of the first violets in the gardens of Mount Vernon.
Your Fortiiri membership dues are a fee for service not a chari-
table contribution; They tray, however, qualify as a business
expense, in which case it is between you and those fine people
at the IRS.
Note., Ann Pamela Cunningham, as many of you know, led the way to
presert•e Mount.Vernon back in 1856, and so we've botroieed her name
as our netu advice columnist to clan fy your Forum membership questions.
