Recommend to the BOCC areas to be designated as "historic districts" and individual structures or sites to be designated as "landmarks, " and to recommend areas, sites or structures to be revoked from designation. 3. To review and act upon applications far Certificates of Appropriateness (COA) for alterations, demolition or new construction within historic districts or designated landmarks. 4. To cooperate with State, Federal, and local governments in the pursuance of historic preservation, and to offer or request assistance, aid, guidance, or advice concerning matters of historic preservation. 5. To educate the public and local officials on historic preservation issues. 6. To perform special studies and projects regarding historic preservation— including cultural, archaeological and in some cases scenic resources, as requested by the BOCC and to recommend historic preservation initiatives to the BOCC.
