Draft MINUTES <br />HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />December 10, 2003 <br />Members Present: Betsy Underwood, Chair <br />Chuck Cooper, Vice Chair <br />Dale Georgiade <br />Heath Aldridge <br />Rob Golan <br />Members Absent: Renee Price, Carolyn Connor <br />Staff Present: Tina Moon, Preservation Planner and Carol Melton, ERCD Staff. <br />AGENDA ITEM #1: CALL TO ORDER <br />Chair Underwood called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. <br />AGENDA ITEM #2: CONSIDERATIONS OF ADDITIONS TO AGENDA <br />Moon added the Commissioner's request for HPC's priorities for the next fiscal year beginning July 1, <br />2004 as an addition to the agenda. <br />Aldridge and Georgiade reported a sign along part of the St. Mary's Road Scenic Heritage Corridor <br />project that indicated a fire department would be built. <br />Cooper reported some ongoing project involving an older farmhouse on Highland Farm Road. <br />AGENDA ITEM #3: CHAIR COMMENTS <br />Underwood reported talking with Dr. Watson at the Chapel Hill Historical Society and was referred to <br />someone at the Southern Oral History program at UNC regarding the storage of oral history tapes. She <br />noted that they recommended a release form would need to be completed by anyone interviewed as well <br />as a brief summary statement. The tapes could be retrieved at a later time for transcriptions. <br />AGENDA ITEM #4: APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />Underwood asked what was the `scoring exercise' and, Moon explained the driving- scoring or evaluating <br />exercise that members had done along the Scenic Heritage Corridor on St. Mary's Road project. <br />MOTION: Georgiade motioned for approval of the October 22, 2003 minutes. Seconded by Cooper <br />VOTE: Unanimous. <br />AGENDA ITEM #5: ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION <br />a. Rotary Club Meeting Report <br />Moon noted that the Rotary Club presentation on October 23 was well received. <br />b. Lands Legacy Annual Action Plan Report <br />Moon referenced the copy of the HPC's recommendations for the Lands Legacy Annual Action Plan <br />which was included for their records. <br />C. Planning for next year and committee work <br />1. Local Landmark Program, Design Standards <br />2. Oral History Project <br />3. Publication <br />4.
