Thompson September 20, 2003 <br />New Hope Church Road, Chapel Hill, N.C. <br />GT: George Thompson <br />IC: Iris Chapman, Daughter of George Thompson <br />BU: Betsy Underwood and TM: Tina Moon, Interviewers <br />BU: We're here at the Orange County 250th Anniversary Farm Festival talking with <br />George Thompson who lives in Cedar Grove Township about his memories of <br />Orange County. Mr. Thompson, where and when were you born? <br />GT: I was born January 15, 1921. <br />BU: Were you born in Cedar Grove Township in Orange County? <br />GT: Yes, that is right. <br />BU: Do you still live in the same house? <br />GT: No, not the same house. I was born on the farm of my Father. Then I bought my <br />Uncle's farm and that's where I live now. It's been there about eighty some <br />years. <br />BU: That's wonderful, do you know who built the house? Do you know much about <br />the history of the house? <br />GT: The house I live in, or my Father's house? <br />BU: Did he build it himself? <br />GT: I don't know if he built .it himself, they had some carpenters back in those days. <br />That's been a long time ago. A Mr. Russell from Burlington built my house. <br />BU: Tell me about your life when you are growing up in Orange County. <br />IC: Tell them about Grandmama's house, your Mama's house that you were born in, <br />that house is way older than you are don't you think? <br />GT: Well, ah yes. <br />
