ATTACHMENT #2 � i <br />orawge CouvutU AgriCulturRLT>reservatiovk, Board <br />RESOLUTION <br />An Orange County Agricultural Center <br />WHEREAS, the concept of an agricultural center for Orange County has been a topic of <br />discussion since the mid 1980's, and <br />WHEREAS, agriculture remains a viable and integral part of the County's economy and <br />landscape, as it has been for hundreds of years, and <br />WHEREAS, the Agricultural Preservation Board is interested in a fresh look at possible <br />uses for such a Center, as outlined in the Attachment "Agricultural Center — Concepts <br />and Possible Process," and <br />WHEREAS, a number of North Carolina counties have agricultural centers, built to <br />varying degrees of scale and programming, and <br />WHEREAS, a number of benefits would be achieved by the creation of an agricultural <br />center in Orange County, offering opportunities for new /innovative ventures as well as <br />meeting traditional needs. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Orange County Agricultural <br />Preservation Board requests that the Board of Commissioners consider, as a part of <br />Capital Investment Plan discussions this fall, the renewed possibility for an Orange <br />County Agricultural Center and the exploration with all stakeholders of possible <br />activities, uses, and grant funding sources. <br />This, the 15th day of October, 2003. <br />Tony Kleese, Chair <br />Agricultural Preservation Board <br />ATTEST <br />Carol Melton, Administrative Assistant <br />
