Dear Livestock /Horticulture Producer: <br />A committee of Orange County <br />County Commissioners and Orange <br />plan to provide a long -,term <br />facility in Orange County. <br />ATTACHMENT K <br />livestock /horticulture producers, Orange <br />County government officials•,are studying a <br />marketing and multi - purpose agricultural <br />We are examining the feasibility of a joint public - private venture <br />featuring a publicly built, multi - purpose agricultural facility which <br />would include, in addition to a modern livestock market and arena, a <br />farmer's market, a large meeting.room and cafeteria, and an Orange County <br />Agricultural Museum and Gallery. This facility and livestock market would <br />be operated, under a lease agreement, by a private, non - profit <br />corporation. The goal is to promote maximum use of the facility. <br />The private, non - profit corporation would hire a professional manager who <br />would be responsible for the day -to -day operation of the livestock market <br />and facility, securing and increasing business, conducting special and <br />private sales, shows, and so on. The corporation's Board of Directors <br />would include elected Orange County livestock /horticulture producers, a <br />representative of the Orange County Board of Commissioners, the Orange <br />County Livestock Extension Agent, the Orange County Extension Chairman, <br />and a representative of the Orange County Agribusiness Council. Funding <br />for the operation of the livestock market would be raised through the sale <br />of bonds or stock. <br />In order to help us with our feasibility study, would you please fill out <br />the attached survey and return as soon as possible to the Orange County <br />Extension office, 306 -E Revere Road, Hillsborough, NC 27278.
