I 1 11 <br />The Rural Education Center will provide more suitable space <br />for the following educational and county programs, just to name a <br />few: <br />Demonstration Plots <br />This area will be developed by Agricultural Extension Service as <br />needed to demonstrate the latest varieties and management practices <br />in forestry, turf, greenhouse production, fruit tree, vegetable <br />production, forage management, tobacco and irrigation practices. <br />A small pond will be developed for stripped bass or. catfish <br />production and to demonstrate weed control in farm ponds. <br />Environmental Study Area <br />An environmental study area is planned using wooded acreage around <br />a lake. A nature trail is planned to be used by school children <br />to study the environment and its impacts on nature and wildlife. <br />Rural Heritage Area <br />An area with some type of relocated historical building is planned <br />that could help explain agriculture or rural life. This would tie <br />in well for school children with the environmental study area. <br />Farmers' Market <br />A small pole -type building is planned to be used by local producers <br />to sell fresh vegetables and home -grown commodities from their <br />pick -up. <br />Outdoor Horse /Livestock Show Area <br />A horse show facility is planned which would include a grading area <br />sufficient for a 120' x 240' ring with an announcer's stand, P.A. <br />system and portable bleachers.
