FarmLink is sponsored by King and Snohomish Counties WASH 11I4sam FARMLI ' FarmLink is a means to help ensure that working farms remain in agricultural production and to help facilitate the transition of farms to the next generation. FarmLink provides an opportunity to pass on the hard work of generations of farmers to a new generation. FarmLink connects people wanting to get started in agriculture with farmers and landowners who are committed to*establishing the next generation of producers. FarmLink connects people with the resources and technical expertise necessary to achieve these goals. FarmLink is a joint project of the King County Agricultural Commission and the Snohomish County Agricultural Advisory Board. FarmLink is For: • Farmers who want their operation to continue after they retire. • Farmers facing operational and /or transitional challenges. • Current or former farm managers who want to eventually own their own farm. • Agriculture service providers seeking new career opportunities. • Landowners with underutilized or unused farmland. • Farmers looking for a partner to operate a new enterprise on their farms Beginning farmers who have the knowledge and desire, but lack land. FarmUnk Offers: • The New to Farming Program provides direct links between beginning or entering farmers and current landowners; practical assistance for assessing land, farming practices, business planning, and market development; and access to capital and training or apprenticeship programs. The Farm Transition Program provides direct links between farmers in transition — retired or retiring farmers — and beginning or entering farmers. The program is designed for landowners who want to stay on their farms and provide mentoring or groom an operating partner. The program provides useful information on successful transition strategies, retirement options, tax and estate planning, and alternatives to development. • The Farm /Farmer Matching Program provides direct links between landowners with underutilized or unused farmland and those interested in farming. The program provides assistance in identifying lease /sale opportunities and structuring lease /sale agreements. •.
