Mainstream fob Training <br />Grantee La Grange Redevelopment Foundation <br />Amount $75,000 <br />Project This Golden LEAF grant will provide job <br />training to individuals on welfare or <br />unskilled workers to prepare them for <br />jobs in commercial construction <br />(framing, plumbing, electrical and <br />finished carpentry). Students will receive <br />on- the -job training through Lenoir <br />Community College in restoring <br />commercial property owned by the <br />college foundation. The training <br />program will prepare participants for 77 <br />job openings that will be available over <br />the next year at 10 contracting <br />businesses. <br />Servicing Lenoir County <br />Cut Flower production and Marketing <br />in Eastern North Carolina <br />Grantee Lenoir County <br />Amount $110,000 <br />This Golden LEAF grant will provide <br />support to farmers that are interested in <br />trapsitioning greenhouses, formerly used <br />in tobacco production, into cut flower <br />production. Grant funds are to be used <br />for demonstration and training, to <br />identify and develop market outlets, and <br />support the formation of a grower's <br />cooperative. <br />Servicing Greene, Jones and Lenoir Counties <br />Project <br />phase 11 of "Martin County Economic <br />impact improvement through <br />an 1ST Start -Up" <br />Grantee Martin Community College <br />Amount <br />$125,000 <br />Project <br />This Golden LEAF grant will provide a <br />funding to complete <br />second year of <br />Phase II of the Industrial Systems <br />(Maintenance) Technology program at <br />Martin Community College. The <br />program will support local industry, <br />provide job training for recent high <br />school graduates, and retrain displaced <br />factory and farm workers. <br />Madison Farms Value -Added <br />Grantee Madison County <br />Servicing Martin, Washington and Bertie Counties <br />Industrial Maintenance <br />Technology Degree Program <br />Grantee Montgomery Community College <br />Amount $250,000 <br />Project This Golden LEAF grant will assist <br />Montgomery Community College in <br />starting an Industrial Maintenance <br />Technology program to meet local <br />industry needs for skilled industrial <br />maintenance technicians. <br />Servicing Montgomery <br />Amount $75,000 <br />Project The purpose of this Golden LEAF grant is <br />to increase market opportunities for <br />farmers who are diversifying their <br />operations through alternative crop <br />production and value -added enterprises, <br />and provide training in business <br />planning, marketing and management. <br />Servicing Madison County <br />County <br />Development and Outreach Education <br />of Agribusiness principles <br />in Eastern North Carolina <br />Grantee Mount Olive College <br />Amount $70,000 <br />Project This Golden LEAF grant will assist <br />Montgomery Community College in <br />starting an Industrial Maintenance <br />Technology program to meet local <br />Industry needs for skilled industrial <br />maintenance technicians. <br />Servicing Wayne, Duplin, Greene, Craven, Jones, <br />Onslow, Pitt, Lenoir and Sampson <br />Counties <br />95 <br />Electric Lineman Technology <br />Diploma program <br />Grantee Nash Community College <br />Amount $76,612.56 <br />Project This Golden LEAF grant will assist Nash <br />Community College, in collaboration <br />with three major employers of linemen, <br />to start an Electric Lineman Technology <br />diploma program. The program will <br />prepare students for jobs in the field of <br />line installers and cable splicers where <br />overall employment is expected to grow <br />at nine percent per year through 2006. <br />Servicing Statewide <br />Realizing Upscale Pork Markets <br />for Small Scale Producers <br />Grantee North Carolina Agricultural and <br />Technical State University <br />Amount $225,000 <br />The purpose of this grant is to provide a <br />second year of funding to continue the <br />development of sustainable hog farming in <br />North Carolina. Funds are to be used to <br />recruit and train additional farmers in <br />"upscale" hog production using Niman <br />Ranch techniques, examine and <br />demonstrate alternative hog rearing <br />systems and methods of marketing <br />"upscale" pork, test progeny in "upscale" <br />boar semen, and establish a demonstration <br />site at the Cherry Farm in Wayne County. <br />Project <br />Servicing Statewide <br />Edible CarMedicinal <br />a: rA Cash Crop for the Future <br />North re <br />Grantee North Carolina Agricultural and <br />Technical State University <br />Amount $355,000 <br />Project The purpose of this Golden LEAF grant is <br />to provide a second year of funding to <br />support the expansion of mushroom <br />farming in North Carolina. Funds are to <br />be used to expand the network of farmers <br />engaged in commercial -scale mushroom <br />production, establish mass production in <br />a controlled environment, and develop <br />the industrial processing of mushrooms tc <br />obtain beta- glucans for pharmaceutical <br />use, and create over - the - counter retail <br />and functional food applications. <br />Servicing Statewide <br />Measuring <br />1 <br />
