02 <br />Page 1 <br />DRAFT MINUTES <br />AGRICULTURAL PRESERVATION BOARD <br />March 21, 2001 <br />PRESENT: Whit Morrow, Elizabeth Walters, Nancy Goodwin, Bob Strayhorn, <br />Louise Tate, Tony Kleese, Marty Mandell, Environment & Resource <br />Conservation Director David Stancil, ERCD Preservation Planner <br />Tina Moon, Administrative Assistant Carol Melton. <br />Guests present: Carl Walters. <br />ABSENT: Charles Thompson, Noah Ranells, Rodney Recor. <br />ITEM #1: CALL TO ORDER <br />The meeting was called to order at 7:30 by Chair Morrow. <br />ITEM #2: CONSIDERATION OF ADDITIONS TO AGENDA <br />Kleese reported on a project called "Sonoma Grown" where local <br />products are highlighted in the local markets. <br />Mandell reported that she had attended the Clean Cities <br />Conference that was held in Raleigh. She noted that the US Dept <br />of Energy has said that the future of alternative fueled vehicles will <br />be ethanol fuel followed by electric and that NC has the opportunity <br />to grow the corn to make ethanol. NC has the perfect climate for <br />growing corn, and corn will be the key ingredient in this major <br />upcoming market. <br />ITEM #3: APPROVAL OF MINUTES January 31, 2001 _ . <br />Motion: Strayhorn made motion for approval of January 31, 2001 minutes. <br />Seconded by Kleese. <br />Vote: Unanimous. <br />Motion: Tate made motion for approval of February 21, 2001 minutes. <br />Seconded by Strayhorn. <br />Vote: Unanimous. <br />Strayhorn asked if the final changes had been done on the <br />agreement component of the new VAD application form.
