Bad News -Hot off the pressDear Voluntary Agricultural <br />District Board Member: <br />In your efforts to support local agriculture, I thought you would be <br />interested in this information about cuts to the WIC Farmers Market program. <br />This program provides vouchers to mothers enrolled in the WIC program to <br />purchase fresh produce at local farmers markets. The farmers can exchange <br />these vouchers for cash. <br />You are receiving this note because: <br />1. You attended our Voluntary Agricultural Districts Training in February <br />(and we have your email address). <br />2. You're from a county that receives WIC vouchers at your local farmers <br />market. <br />3. You have a legislator on the appropriations committee, which will make <br />decisions about this funding. <br />We're suggesting you call your legislator this week to explain the value of <br />this program to your local farmers; let them know how many dollars it brings <br />in to their district!
