Recommendation — 2001 -2002 Lands Legacy Annual Action Plan
Stancil reviewed the information beginning on page eleven of the agenda
packet. It was noted that the advisory boards are asked annually to
provide priorities on input for the Lands Legacy Annual Action Plan and
that it is time for the year 2001 -2002 planning to begin. Stancil asked
what priorities the APB would like to pursue in the coming fiscal year.
Previous ideas discussed are: Complete initial pilot project easement,
Acquire a second conservation easement, and Look at a combined
farmland/cultural area acquisition.
Stancil noted that, with a December 10th deadline for Farmland
Preservation Trust Fund application, work is progressing on the initial
pilot project easement project. Completion may be a priority for the
coming year. Pursuit of a second easement might be a second priority. A
third idea of a combined acquisition where there are opportunities for
conservation easements and acquisitions that meet multiple needs. For
example, a park with a farmstead or historic property, or a farm that
contains a natural area, where a combination of multiple goals could be
obtained.
DRAFT Page 1 of 5
