1
Shaping Orange County's Future Provisional Report
Advisory Board Review
On November 21St, the Board of Commissioners officially referred the Shaping
Orange County's Future Provisional Report to a list of 17 advisory boards. The
Board has asked for review and comments from the advisory boards by
February 28, 2001. These advisory boards are:
• Planning Board
• Commission for the Environment
• Agricultural Preservation Board
• Historic Preservation Commission
• Advisory Board on Aging
• Arts Commission
• Board of Health
• Board of social services
• Economic Development Commission
• Commission for Women
• Human Relations Commission
• Innovation and Efficiency Committee
• Recreation and Parks Advisory Council
• solid Waste Advisory Board
• visitors Bureau
• OPC Mental Health Board
• Housing /UNC Task Force
Please forward the attached report, companion document and summary tables to
your advisory board (or boards, please note that a few of you have more than
one board listed) for review and comment. A copy of the full report and
companion document are also available on the County's web site
(www.co.orange.nc.us /shaping). As you will note, some sections of the report
are more applicable than others to the mission and charge of the listed advisory
boards — and it is in these areas that we would ask your boards to focus their
attention.
Please send any written comments from your advisory boards to David Stancil by
February 28, 2001. The Board will consider the report and the comments from
advisory boards at a worksession on March 13.
Feel free to contact David if you have any questions about the report or the
process.
