The group is also working on a presentation to be used for public <br />outreach efforts are on goin The trip to Blue Ridge Ventures in Candler, NC, has been <br />scheduled for September 30 h. <br />C. Communications /Meeting with other Ag Boards (status) including plans for outreach to <br />share information on the changes to the Voluntary Agricultural Districts program. <br />At earlier meetings the APB agreed to have a joint meeting with all of the agricultural boards <br />(government) to develop partnerships and to collaborate their efforts into a unified voice for <br />Orange County agriculture - -the first step in the "Ag Intra- Agency Communication" goal of the <br />board. Members discussed topics for the joint meeting agenda - -the farmland mapping project, <br />the agricultural center recommendations, efforts to pool resources to preserve farming in Orange <br />County and beginnings of an "Orange County Agricultural Strategic Plan." Staff was requested to <br />prepare a draft agenda, setup meeting details and relay the information to members of the other <br />boards. <br />Stancil reported that a poll of the stakeholder groups concluded that November 1 st would be a <br />date for the joint meeting. Staff was requested to move forward with meeting preparations and to <br />share a draft agenda for discussion at the October 19 APB meeting. <br />d. Priorities for Lands Legacy Action Plan 2006 -08 <br />Stancil asked members to be prepared to discuss possible ventures for consideration in the <br />annual Lands Legacy Action Plan for 2006 -08 at the October meeting. <br />e. Natural & Cultural Systems Element, Agricultural Chapter <br />Staff should learn, in the near future, if the Recreation and Parks piece will be its own element or <br />a chapter of the Natural and Cultural Systems Element. The Agricultural Preservation Board <br />would take the lead in preparing the agricultural chapter of the Natural and Cultural Systems <br />Element, from the planning stage, to public outreach, to the actual preparation of text. Staff will <br />have a better sense of the schedule for the NCS Element in the near future and will share that <br />information with the APB once it become available. <br />ITEM #7: Informational Items <br />a.
