What are the concerns or emerging issues your board has identified for the upcoming
fiscal year that it plans to address, or wishes to bring to the Commissioners' attention?
• Due to the success and high interest level in the agricultural conservation
easements portion of Lands Legacy, there is concern that this component of Lands
Legacy will soon be out of funds
• The Agricultural Center Work Group
• The creation of an Agricultural chapter of the Comprehensive Plan (Natural and
Cultural Systems Element), as suggested in previous October correspondence.
• The need for additional incentives for VAD's, and closure on proposed changes to
the program to make it more open and accessible
• The effects of the 10 -acre lot exempt subdivision on the County's farmland
• Greater coordination between agricultural agencies and staffs
Describe any training related to its primary responsibilities that this Board/Commission
has received during 2004, either collectively, or for individual members.
Members have engaged in substantial training relative to either their commodities
(livestock, other) and /or profession (organic, other agricultural programs and
conferences).
