Recent alternatives researched included a study <br />done by NC State of Chatham County, A study commission on <br />homebuilders association looking at residential development in the <br />triangle also conducted by NC State. In comparison, it was noted <br />that the study by Phillip Gottwals association Agricultural <br />Economic and Development Conservation was the most beneficial <br />for this region to get a sense of how public costs are affected by the <br />different sectors of the economy, residential, industrial and <br />farmland. An alternative might be that Orange, Wake and <br />Johnston might do independent study. APB members expressed <br />support for the study in Orange County. More to come in <br />November or December. <br />C. Update on Pilot Project agricultural conservation easement <br />Stancil reported on information just received from Conservation <br />Trust For NC, Chuck Roe — Guidelines for Farmland Preservation <br />Funds. The focus for this year is to do a pilot project conservation <br />easement in Cane Creek Watershed working in conjunction with <br />OWASA and Soil & Water District. A main objective is to do <br />water quality and farmland protection. Staff will be working on <br />this grant due December 10tH <br />ITEM #7 \8: ADJOURNMENT <br />Stancil announced the- next meeting to, be -held at the Planning and <br />Agricultural Food Lab on Revere Road in Hillsborough on October 18th at <br />7:30 p.m. Staff to send out recent criteria adopted by APB for LLP. <br />The joint meeting was adj ourned at 9:00 p.m. <br />
