Page 1 <br />DRAFT MINUTES <br />AGRICULTURAL PRESERVATION BOARD <br />August 16, 2000 <br />PRESENT: Nancy Goodwin, Elizabeth Walters, Bob Strayhorn, Louise Tate, Whit Morrow, <br />Environment & Resource Conservation Director David Stancil, Preservation <br />Planner Tina Moon, Administrative Assistant Carol Crawford. <br />ABSENT: Trudy Matheny (Resigned) <br />ITEM #1: CALL TO ORDER <br />Vice -Chair Strayhorn called the meeting to order at 7:40. <br />ITEM #2: CONSIDERATION OF ADDITIONS TO AGENDA <br />Stancil reported that a thank you letter had been sent to Chris Hogan for eight <br />years of service on the behalf of the APB. <br />ITEM #3: APPROVAL OF MINUTES June 21, 2000 <br />MOTION: Goodwin moved to approve the June 21st minutes. Tate seconded the motion. <br />VOTE: Unanimous. <br />ITEM #4: CHAIR COMMENTS: <br />ITEM #6: ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION <br />a. Voluntary Agricultural Districts incentives report <br />Staff will prepare a report for the APB to review and present to the BOCC in <br />November regarding incentives for the Voluntary Agricultural District program. <br />The report will hopefully include some new thoughts on the subject while <br />summarizing the APB's previous ideas for incentives. <br />Stancil reviewed the five ideas for enhancing Voluntary Agricultural Districts <br />(VAD) that the PAB discussed at its June meeting: <br />1. Simplify the VAD agreement to make it less "legal." Stancil reported that the <br />County Attorney has agreed to examine a revised agreement drafted by the <br />APB.
