r77 <br />�J 'J <br />1 D. Addition and Withdrawal <br />2 <br />3 1. Qualifying farmland in a region with an existing district shall be added to the district <br />4 as herein provided. <br />5 <br />6 2. In the event that one or more participants in the District withdraw and the acreage in <br />7 the District becomes less than the minimum acreage required or results in the <br />8 remaining land being noncontiguous, a voluntary agricultural district will continue <br />9 to exist so long as there is one qualifying farm. <br />10 <br />11 ARTICLE VII <br />12 CERTIFICATION AND QUALIFICATION OF FARMLAND <br />13 <br />14 Requirements <br />15 <br />16 To secure county certification as qualifying farmland, a farm must: <br />17 <br />18 1. Be participating in the farm present- use -value taxation program established by <br />19 N.C.G.S. §105 -277.2 through §105- 277.7, or is otherwise determined by the county <br />20 to meet all the qualifications of this program set forth in G.S. 105 -277.3 ; <br />21 <br />22 2. Be certified by the Natural Resources Conservation Service of the United States <br />23 Department of Agriculture as being a farm on which at least two- thirds of the land is <br />24 composed of soils that: <br />25 <br />26 a. Are best suited for providing food, seed, fiber, forage, timber, forestry <br />27 products, horticultural crops and oil seed crops; <br />28 <br />29 b. Have good soil qualities; <br />30 <br />31 C. Are favorable for all major crops common to the county where the land is <br />32 located; <br />33 <br />34 d. Have a favorable growing season; and <br />35 <br />36 e. Receive the available moisture needed to produce high yields for an average <br />37 of eight out of ten years; <br />38 <br />39 OR <br />40 <br />41 Have been actively used in agricultural, horticultural or forestry operations as <br />42 defined by N.C.G.S. §105 -277.2 (1,2,3) during each of the five previous years, <br />43 measured from the date on which the determination must be made as to whether the <br />44 land in question qualifies; <br />6 <br />
