21 <br /> <br />Commissioner McKee said purchasing this property will also take 5.5 acres of <br />commercial property off the tax roles. <br />Commissioner Jacobs asked if the renters have been approached about a possible <br />subdivision and sale of the property to them. <br />Jeff Thompson said staff could look into this. <br />Commissioner Price clarified that services would not be co-located in the beginning. <br />Dinah Jeffries said not for the Efland Station. She said EMS is trying to co-locate as <br />much as possible, but Efland has expansion plans for station 1, and may possibly locate the <br />burn tower at station 2. <br />Commissioner Price asked if the only thing at this proposed location would be the <br />ambulance. <br />Dinah Jeffries said yes. <br />Travis Myren said one of the options that staff could investigate is re-configuring the <br />property, and offering the portions not needed by the County for commercial sale. <br />Commissioner McKee asked if it is critical that this facility site on Highway 70. <br />Commissioner Rich asked if the rest of the property can be built on, and who would <br />want to do so. <br />Travis Myren said, given Commissioner McKee’s concerns, staff could explore what the <br />other options may be for a reconfiguration, etc. <br />Jeff Thompson said the eastern parcel can have its own entrance off of Highway 70, <br />and the large 3.5-acre parcel can share a driveway for something that can be developed on <br />the southwestern corner of that parcel. <br />Chair Dorosin asked if there is another house on this property. <br />Jeff Thompson said that is not part of this property. <br />Commissioner Price asked if the seller would break up the land. <br />Jeff Thompson said no, the seller is unwilling to do so. <br /> Travis Myren resumed the presentation: <br /> <br />• Facility Accessibility, Safety and Security - $114,500 (page 33) <br />Project Description/Justification: Funding of $114,500 in FY2018-19 is for accessibility and <br />security improvements as identified by the Space Study Work Group, Emergency Action <br />Planning Work Group, BOCC initiatives, and the Facilities Accessibility Self- Assessment. <br />These initiatives include adding way finding and warning signage, such as the "No Weapons" <br />signage, providing security cameras in multiple facilities including the Historic Courthouse and <br />the Orange County Fuel Station, fire alarm system upgrades at the Court Street Annex, <br />Orange Public Transportation Administrative Building, and Chapel Hill Visitors’ Center, and <br />replacing a wheelchair lift at Central Recreation. Funding in FY2019-20 includes automated <br />access doors at Skills Development, Animal Services, and other facilities and the purchase <br />and installation of AED units and cabinets at appropriate county facilities.
