Orange County has received a Micro -grant of $4,000 from North Carolina State <br />University, Center for Environmental Farming Systems, which will be handled as pass <br />through funds to the Orange County Food Council. These funds will be used by the <br />Orange County Food Council for food council capacity building project coordination. <br />This budget amendment provides for the County's receipt of these funds and will <br />provide these funds to the Orange County Food Council,as pass through funds in FY <br />2017 -18. (See Attachment 1, column 4) <br />SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is <br />applicable to this item: <br />® GOAL: ENSURE ECONOMIC SELF- SUFFICIENCY <br />The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs and funding <br />necessary for residents to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for <br />themselves and their dependents. <br />Library Services <br />5. The Department of Library Services anticipates the receipt of $2,800 in additional <br />funds from Friends of the Library. These additional funds will support the Summer <br />Learning Kickoff Event as well as promotions and supplies for the Summer Learning <br />season. <br />This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these additional funds. (See <br />Attachment 1, column 5) <br />SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goals are <br />applicable to this agenda item: <br />® GOAL: CREATE A SAFE COMMUNITY <br />The reduction of risks from vehicle /traffic accidents, childhood and senior injuries, <br />gang activity, substance abuse and domestic violence. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Financial impacts are included in the background information above. <br />This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these additional funds and increases the FY <br />2017 -18 budgets in the General Fund by $178,987, and decreases the County Capital Fund by <br />$151,446. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends the Board approve budget and capital <br />project ordinance amendments for fiscal year 2017 -18. <br />
