<br />Orange County Nursing Home Advisory Committee <br />Meeting Minutes, November 7, 2017 <br /> 5:30pm, Seymour Center, Chapel Hill, NC <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER by Vibeke Talley, Chair <br /> <br />• Members Present: Autumn Cox (Ombudsman), Carol Kelly, Jackie Podger, Jerry Ann <br />Gregory, Jerry Schreiber, Mary Fraser (Department on Aging), Molly Stein, Peggy <br />Lanier, Karen Macklin, Vibeke Talley (Chair) <br />• Members Excused: Martha Bell, Susie Deter <br />• Members Absent: Jennifer Moore <br /> <br />OLD BUSINESS <br /> <br />• Discussion/Approval of Minutes as amended November 7, 2017) <br />Paragraph 4, under the Department of Aging Report, was stricken. <br />• Carol Kelly moved to accept as amended. Jerry Schreiber seconded. Minutes were <br />approved as amended for September 5, 2017 unanimously. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />• Ombudsman Report given by Autumn Cox on conference call. Autumn conducted <br />HB248 Training, recent changes that have been added to Community Advisory <br />Committee Training. Autumn outlined the minimum qualifications, application process, <br />removal of designation, purpose and statutory role of a committee member. Autumn also <br />reiterated the topics to be covered during a quarterly visit, protocols for the visit, types of <br />visits and paperwork. Also discussed was the CFR Part 1324 which addresses the <br />identification and disclosure of any potential conflict of interest. Handouts were <br />distributed to all for further review. <br />• Site Visit Reports: <br />o Brookshire (October 9, 2017): accepted with the understanding going forward that <br />the Assisted Living residences will also be included in the quarterly visits of the <br />Skilled Nursing residences. <br />o Carol Woods (October 31, 2017): accepted with a question about who is <br />responsible for a quarterly visit to the second floor. (After checking, Vibeke reported <br />via e-mail that the second floor is not the responsibility of the committee.) <br />o Carolina Pointe (September13, 2017): accepted <br />o Signature Health (October 16, 2017): accepted <br /> <br /> <br />
