3 <br />Sea Trail. <br />If your board /commission played the role of an Element Lead Advisory Board <br />involved in the 2030 Comprehensive Plan preparation process, please indicate <br />your board's activities /accomplishments as they may relate to the <br />Comprehensive Plan's goals or objectives. <br />N/A <br />Identify any activities this board /commission expects to carry out in 2018 as they <br />relate to established BOCC goals and priorities. <br />If applicable, is there a fiscal impact (i.e., funding, staff time, and other resources) <br />associated with these proposed activities (please list). <br />The Visitors Bureau works to support the BOCC's strategic goals that <br />include: Economic Strength and programs that address growth and <br />mobility while preserving our environment and individual communities. <br />Programming for People, Arts and Culture: the Visitors Bureau <br />accomplishes this by applying an interdisciplinary marketing approach to <br />enhance our cultural activities, support artistic expression and improve <br />quality of life. All overnight visitor programs and successes are <br />accomplished through use of hotel occupancy taxes. <br />What are the concerns or emerging issues your board has identified for the <br />upcoming year that it plans to address, or wishes to bring to the Commissioners' <br />attention? <br />1. Airbnb and shared rentals are eroding traditional room inventory and <br />are not regulated by health department. <br />2. Orange County hospitality leaders fear Triangle area having too <br />much hotel supply, especially in Orange County where two main <br />demand generators include: UNC and UNC Healthcare. <br />3. Need to develop new products for visitors. <br />4. Visitors Bureau studying sports fields, cultural center, open space. <br />5. Need Memorandum of understand with Carrboro and Hillsborough <br />Tourism Development Authorities. <br />
